I received three entries to my Giving is Awesome contest. I am touched by each of the stories but one of them stood out to me (and my panel of impartial judges).

This is the story of the young Rachel. Rachel and her family have been battling with health issues for a while now and I am excited to say that I am going get the opportunity to capture some of their memories for them.

So thank you to each and every one of you who participated. I will be in contact soon. I wanted to let you know that everyone will be receiving a special session package, but Rachel and her family (and her nominator too!) will all be receiving complimentary sessions and print credits.

The beautiful S's husband is away at Army Training in Georgia. So what does she do? Does she sit around and mope, or sit and watch soap operas all day?

Heck no! She spends the day with me! Yay! And she gets some awesome reminders to send to her hubby on the east coast about all that he is missing out on over here in sunny California!

I couldn't picked a better way to spend this afternoon, cracking jokes, laughing, and doing everything I could to show S. just how beautiful she really is!

It was a crazy afternoon. We dodged the rain, and the bus. Yay! But we didn't dodge the crazy man who wanted a dime... did I mention that he was "obliterated!" What does that mean? lol.

I am so excited to be shooting this couple's wedding in August. I seriously can't wait, and I am not even the one getting married. I could just feel the love that they had for one another today. They were game for anything, I and I put that to the test. Try 4 lanes of traffic in between us and them having a crazy photographer yelling at the, "KISS!!!" Yeah!

So here is your sneak peak K. and E. Hope you love them. I truly had a fabulous time with you today! :)

Valentine's Day Mini-Sessions!

With the holiday of love right around the corner, I thought that I would show you all some love!

Valentine's day mini-sessions. The perfect way to get that V-day shot for an incredible price. What more could you ask for?!?

The details. You will receive one 30 minute shoot in downtown Martinez for up to 3 people. From that shoot you can expect to have 7-10 edited images in your private gallery no later than February 3rd. You can then choose up to two images for a valentine's day card (template sample below). And with your package you will receive 25 5x5inch single sided cards with envelopes.

All of this for $40! And the other prints and products will be reduced by 33%! That means than an 8x10 will be only $20 from this session... amazing!

Another boudoir teaser...

I have finished editing my three sessions from Sunday. Five days of editing, with few breaks. It has been insane. I am glad for the editing break for about 24 hours, lol. :)

So now that I am done I have new favorites. They are still tame, but they are darn sexy, if I don't say so myself. What beautiful women they are, and I so lucky to have had such awesome models!

Today I did a marathon. Not the 26 mile one, but the three shoots in one day style!

I had so much fun with three amazingly beautiful ladies. These are the tame shots. In the future there will be a spin off blog for posts like these, and until then I will keep it rated PG over here, :).

So here is your sneak peak. I am having so much fun editing these, and the more I look at them I am amazed by the beauty of each of the, and the beauty of each and every woman. Now that is something to celebrate!

FREE! You read that right, FREE! I am in need of newborns. All of my newborn clients have fallen though some how and I am dying, I repeat DYING to photograph a newborn. And by newborn I mean very newly born. Like 10 days old or younger at the time of the shoot.

So do you know someone who is literally days from having a baby, or just had one yesterday or maybe 2-3 days ago. Do you think they would want a free photo shoot in their home or mine? We will work out the details of what it includes when you contact me but you can be assured that they will be rewarded handsomely for letting me get some precious shots of their little one.

And just in case you were wondering here is my normal pricing for a session.

Session Fee: $150 (includes a $75 print credit)

This is the standard on location session fee and includes the
time and talent of the photographer, and a $75 print credit.
This expires one week after your gallery is hosted. Two weeks
after your session you will be presented with a link to your
session online with between 25-35 finished images. There is a
non-refundable $75 fee required to reserve the date due upon
booking.
This session is for one immediate family up to 5 people. Please
add $25 for each additional person.

I know this is my "professional" blog, but I got the rare opportunity to take some pictures of my husband's family. His dad, two uncles, and aunt. It was such a fun day, even thought the circumstances surrounding the meet up were less than awesome. Max's Grandfather passed away about two weeks ago. The family was in Turlock to say goodbye and to spend some time with Grandma.

Anyway here are the images from that day. Thanks for letting me be a part of your day and I am so glad we are family! :)

But since I had set up my home mock studio, I decided to use it for my boy today. This serves two purposes.

1. You get to see how darned cute he is.
2. You can see some of the cool fabric backgrounds that I have available to me to use for indoor sessions.

With Valentine's day right around the corner, I know there are some of you girly girls looking for what to get your man! Well, I have the perfect answer for you.

A custom elegant boudoir session for you and the beautiful (dare I say sexy!) images of you, for him.

I am compiling a list of interested ladies for a weekend in January. I am going to rent a beautiful hotel room in the Walnut Creek area for the day. It is going to be just a lovely experience for you. The two potential dates are January 18 or 25, 2009.

Here are the details.

Your 1.5 hour session will include up to three wardrobe changes, all of your edited images on a CD, a 5x5 brag book album with all of your images and lots of little extras and surprises on the day of the marathon (a girl's gotta have secrets!).

The cost for all of this is going to be $200. There will be an additional charge for parking.

Send me an email, letting me know which day works best for you. The session times will be 9:00am, 10:30am, 12:00pm, 1:30pm, and 3:00pm (this 3:00pm session will be on both Saturday and Sunday).

Wouldn't it just be a great girls day out, if you got a bunch of your girls together and made a day of it. How fun!

I am excited to announce our newest "contest" at kristy lynn photography!

I am joining forces with almost 500 other photographers to give away two free photography session. One will go to a deserving family who is nominated and the other will go to a deserving family that does the nominating. Here is how it works.

I know you know someone! Someone who has been struggling to just make it every day. Whether it be because of disease, financial circumstances, or personal tragedy, there are people all around us who are living reminders of just how difficult that life can be. And yet these very same people are the ones who also remind us how strong love can be. They remind us to find the joy, and they remind us what the word family is all about.

Go ahead take a moment, think about it. Who would you love to see gifted with this opportunity.

And then email me. Tell me their story. Tell me why they are so deserving. You have until midnight on January 21, 2009 to get your entry in. From there I will choose one family to receive a standard custom photography session and a $200 print credit. And the nominator will receive the same package for their nomination.

What a day!: San Francisco Bay Area Child Photographer

I got to spend the day with my amazing boys today. We went on an adventure to find a location that had a warehouse and a field in Martinez.

We ended up at the Carquinez Strait Regional Shoreline, where we got rained on, but I got this shot.

After that we returned to our search and we did find our destination. We made it to Granger's Wharf in on the Martinez Regional shoreline. Beautiful location.

Big eyes. That was my first thought when I saw this adorable baby boy. He has the most beautiful big black eyes!

And this mommy and daddy have the coolest re-furbished artist loft. It was an artistic inspiration just to be in their building. I will shoot there again! :)

A way cool photographic technique.: San Francisco Bay Area Photographer

It is called high dynamic range photography (HDR for short) and has to do with taking multiple exposures of the same image without moving and bracketing the initial correct exposure and then blending the images to create the final image.

So I applied it to my tree. And this was my result.

As I finished up editing my recent maternity session with this beautiful momma, I happened upon this one. I had discarded it for some reason upon my first time through the set. But then as I looked again I realized how beautiful the background was. And how it just framed her so perfectly. And then I saw how it almost looks like a watercolor.

This was only enhanced a little, and I can't believe how cool that background is, can you?

These lovely roses were a gift from my wonderful husband. As of yesterday we have been married for two blissful years, here's to many, many, many more, honey!

Official Announcement!: Bay Area Family Photographer

We are officially opening for business on January 1, 2009. And I could not be more excited about what is to come. I wanted to make a post to publish our session prices in 2009. Keep an eye out for our website release in the next month.

The creative fee for the session starting January 1st is $150. That is for both the time and talent of the photographer during the session and also includes the editing as well. A deposit of $75 is required to hold your session date.

Contact me for a booking in 2009 before December 1st, 2008 and receive a complimentary 8x10 (a $35 value) of your favorite image from our session in 2009.

kristylynnphotography is very much in the very beginnings of its life. So far we have had so much fun taking pictures of our beautiful "models". We want the fun to continue.

So here's the deal. While we are still building a portfolio our session will be free (a $150 value!!). The prices will come into play sometime in early 2009. So jump on this deal! Along with that our prints are at a reduced rate while we are portfolio building. It really is a great deal for everyone. We get to add to our portfolio and you get some images of your family.

Any one can inquire. As you can see, children have been our main subject but engaged couples, moms and dads to be, families with teens and tweens, newborn babies (preferably before 2 weeks old)... all should think about getting some portraits done.

Dates are booking up fast. In fact don't be surprised if we can't schedule until November (although if you have a newborn we can always squeeze those in). And if you are interested in holiday pictures we are going to have to get you scheduled before November 20th. To ensure that we can get your prints and files to you in time for the holiday cards. :)

My goodness! It was my pleasure to get to photography T. and her family today in Oakland. Those eyes are to die for. And she had such a sweet spirit. You know, my baby is not so much of a little baby any more so it was more than a blessing to get to hold a little one again. A squishy, soft, little one. I could have stayed all night!

And this was their view! If the eyes were not to die for... then the view was. I stopped on the way home and got these shots. Sure it made me a little late for dinner, for for a view like this I would skip dinner...

I can't believe that in this one I got the Golden Gate bridge and the Bay bridge too!!

What a wonderful family! And what a wonderful location. The Japanese Friendship Garden in San Jose. We started in a rain shower and ended in a rain shower and had some sprinkles all the way through. But they were up for anything thing and the little red head with curls was such a delight and a beauty! Hope you love them W family!
